Manage Work-in-Progress with the LYNX Release Wizard
What are your priorities today, tomorrow or the day after?
Can we start this project today or need to wait till next month?
- Quickly identify key resources
- Quickly identify key tasks
- Set clear priorities and maintain focus
Many organizations are facing the challenge of managing multiple projects using a shared pool of resources. LYNX presents the actual resource load information right on your desktop and this automatically draws attention to where it matters most; resources with a high workload also known as key resources.
Once such resources are identified you can organize work around it. It’s important that everyone understands that work performed by these resources should progress according to plan. This is because any delay on a key resource can never be gained and this time will be lost forever.
Synchronisation and Priority Determination
Critical Chain Projects
For Critical Chain project LYNX supports the priority mechanism, which is based on buffer-consumption relative to progress. The buffer consumption relative to progress, on a project by project basis, is typically displayed in a “Fever Chart”.
Load-Factor driven priority determination for Other Projects
For other type of work, LYNX applies the dynamic Load Factor Scheduling approach. In this process LYNX will determine for each task a “relative” priority, using this Load Factor Scheduling Algorithm. The objective of this process is to improve the overall due-date performance and at the same time increase the resource efficiency.
Load-Factor scheduling results in a very dynamic approach to Pipeline Management, which is called Dynamic Pipeline Management.
Control Work in Progress and build your Pipeline
- Keep your projects flowing
- Prevent starvation by releasing too much work at once
With LYNX, projects are scheduled first and then released. Scheduled means that the project is still in the design phase, maybe your requirements are not yet finite, tasks need to be added or durations need to be set. When the preparation phase is complete and you have a go for your project how do you determine the optimal date and time to start working?
LYNX includes a release wizard which helps you picking the optimal date and time for releasing your project, taking into account the requested delivery date, resource allocations from earlier projects and constraints set within the project.
